Privacy Policy

Effective August 17, 2026

This policy explains the optional gameplay data our game Megabait collects, why we collect it, and the choices you have. We keep data collection minimal and only use it to make the game better.

Who we are

Megabait is developed by RebotGames ("we", "us"), the data controller for the data described here. You can reach us at hello@rebotgames.com for any privacy question or request.

Analytics are optional and off by default

When you first launch Megabait, we ask whether you want to share gameplay analytics. Nothing is collected unless you choose "Allow." You can change your mind at any time from the in-game Settings menu, and no data is collected while running the game from the development editor.

What we collect (only if you allow it)

Why we collect it

Solely to improve the game. Balancing difficulty, finding levels or hazards that are unfair or frustrating, and understanding where our players are. We do not use this data for advertising or profiling, and we do not sell or share it.

Our legal basis under the GDPR is your consent, which you give through the first-run prompt and can withdraw at any time inside the in-game settings. Withdrawing consent stops any further collection.

What we do not collect

We do not collect your name, email address, payment details, or any "special category" data (such as data revealing health, ethnicity, religion, or political views). Purchases are handled entirely by Steam; we never see your payment information.

Where your data is stored

Analytics data is stored using Supabase, our database provider, which processes it on our behalf. Your Steam ID and gameplay come to us through Valve's Steam platform, whose own privacy policy governs your use of Steam itself.

How long we keep it

We keep analytics data only as long as it is useful for improving the game and remove old data periodically. You can also ask us to delete your data at any time (see below).

Your rights

You can withdraw consent at any time by turning analytics off in the in-game Settings menu. You may also ask us to give you a copy of, or to delete, the data associated with your player identifier by emailing hello@rebotgames.com. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as the GDPR, including the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

Children

Megabait is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the game evolves. Material changes will be reflected here with an updated effective date.
